


Unlocking Connectivity in Rural Wales
The Covid-19 restrictions led to an unprecedented increase in our reliance on connectivity. For most homes and businesses, it worked well and allowed people to communicate with friends and family and work without leaving home.
The lockdown was characterised for many by the exponential growth in those using Zoom to meet virtually. But for a minority, mostly located in rural areas, it demonstrated only too clearly how severely disadvantaged they were by having poor or no ability to access online resources.
Connectivity in Wales has improved dramatically over the last five years and continues to do so, but what hope is there for those communities who remain unconnected?
